I need to lead off with a note here. There is an obvious absence from my four picks this week. When you get to your local comic shops on Wednesday (or later in the week), you will find Star Wars #9 on the shelves. This should be a must-buy for everyone. I shouldn’t have to highlight that title for you anymore. You should just go into the store, and pick up Star Wars #9 first thing before you get any of the other books I’ve chosen this week for my Four Comics I Want.

Beauty #2 ($3.50, Image Comics): Five weeks ago, I used this same space to recommend The Beauty #1 from Jeremy Haun and Jason Hurley. I told you to rush out and get it. I hope you listened to me, because this book is smoking hot right now. You need to pick up #2 this week, as the detectives move in closer on the cause of the mysterious disease. But how close do you want to get? I know that Image is one of those companies where you can almost count on any series being collected as a trade. There are a lot of Image titles that I am completely happy to wait on the trade for. That’s not the case for The Beauty. This one I have to pick up this week!

Captain America White #1 ($4,99, Marvel Comics): Jeph Loeb. Tim Sale. Do you really need any other reason to pick this up? The legendary duo re-unite for another of their “color” series focusing on Marvel characters. I’ll wait here while you go review Daredevil Yellow, Spider-Man Blue, and/or Hulk Gray. Yes, these two did attempt to launch this title back in 2008, getting so far as to get a #0 issue released before it disappeared. This first issue reprints the #0 issue, plus provides you more original material looking at the early days of Captain America and Bucky.

Infinite Adventures of Jonas Quantum #1 ($3,99, Legendary Comics): I’ll be honest, this title completely flew under my radar until early on Monday, when I saw a Facebook posting from artist Freddie Williams II. What the?!?!? Freddie has a new book coming out? And it’s written by Marc Guggenheim, the architect behind the successful Arrow TV series? Damn, I don’ t know if I even need any more info regarding the book. But I went and looked it up anyway, just for you! See, Jonas Quantum is the world’s smartest person, able to do anything and everything. Unfortunately, his social skills are very lacking. Other people just seem to get in his way. I don’t know that I have ever bought a comic from Legendary before. I plan on changing that tomorrow.

Simpson’s Treehouse of Horror #21 ($4.99, Bongo Comics): Did you even realize that Bongo Comics has been publishing Simpsons comics for over 20 years? I can still recall going into my LCS and finding Simpsons Comics #1, which had an homage cover to Fantastic Four #1. Early on in their publishing history, the company started issuing a Treehouse of Horror special each fall to mirror the annual Halloween episode of the TV series. What has made the Treehouse books unique is that this is the one time each year when artists could draw the characters as they wanted, not necessarily in the style of the show. You also get a diverse mix of creators stepping in to work on one of the stories in the yearly book. I don’t keep up with all of the Simpsons comics anymore, but this is the one title I do track down each year.

As always, WCPE is so happy to be publishing #FCIW with the support of Elite Comics in Overland Park, KS. William and the Elite Crew run a friendly, clean, and safe comic shop which is welcoming to all and supportive of many local and national non-profits including The Hero Initiative. Stop in, pick up these four books, and let the gang at Elite Comics know that the Worst. Comic. Podcast. EVER! sent you over.
